At CES 2012 Show in Las Vegas recently computer maker HP has presented a new product.
The corporate Ultrabook Envy 14 Spectre, the front face is covered with glass, with 1,7 kg weight, is valued at $1400 USD. Such price is fully justified as in spite of apparent fragility the Ultrabook is more durable and has uncommon characteristics.
The glass is associated with fragility at a glance. Although this is not the case, as the glass is reinforced with a special compound and extremely resistant to scratches or scuffs, withstands directed strokes, and as they say may endure falling from table. Not the whole surface of the laptop is covered with the glass and the robustness is stipulated with a predominant glass construction mixed with aluminium. The bottom cover is made of a mat plastic. Many considered it as producer’s shortfall: thumb marks are strongly visible on the surface. The ideal solution would be to make the lower body of a white or silver plastic.
With regard to performance, HP Envy 14 Spectre has a quite acceptable quality.

Additional features:
- Keyboard with backlight.

The price of the device includes the Photoshop, Premiere Elements, and 2-year subscription to Norton Internet Security antivirus.
The disadvantages of HP Envy 14 Spectre include the price - $ 1400 USD. We would remind you that the claimed price level for Ultrabooks - $ 1,000 USD. By the way, the manufacturers are slightly incorrect in claiming HP Envy 14 Spectre as ultrabook. The device has a width of 20 mm and in combination with a weight of 1.7 kg it does not allow confidently name it “ultrabook”, thus more tending to call it laptop.
But, nevertheless, glass novelty from HP will be on sale in the near future. The device is expected to go on sale on February 8 in the US, and in March we will be able to see the HP Envy 14 Spectre in the shops of Europe and Asia.
